This work presents the authors’ experience in the field of mobile technologies, from which several initiatives have emerged. As result of this, a games-based framework for learning has been developed in these last years. This framework is composed by a competition called Mobigame, which has as main aim to stimulate the participation of the students. By participating in this competition participants learn to develop for mobile devices. A game to practice Japanese is also presented in this article, which was presented in the above mentioned competition. This game has been developed for mobile phones or PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) based on the JME (Java Mobile Edition) technology. Finally, another initiative is also presented: A free download platform of digital contents for mobile devices based on info-educational games

    Autonomic management of a building's multi-HVAC system start-up

    Get PDF
Most studies about the control, automation, optimization and supervision of building HVAC systems concentrate on the steady-state regime, i.e., when the equipment is already working at its setpoints. The originality of the current work consists of proposing the optimization of building multi-HVAC systems from start-up until they reach the setpoint, making the transition to steady state-based strategies smooth. The proposed approach works on the transient regime of multi-HVAC systems optimizing contradictory objectives, such as the desired comfort and energy costs, based on the "Autonomic Cycle of Data Analysis Tasks" concept. In this case, the autonomic cycle is composed of two data analysis tasks: one for determining if the system is going towards the defined operational setpoint, and if that is not the case, another task for reconfiguring the operational mode of the multi-HVAC system to redirect it. The first task uses machine learning techniques to build detection and prediction models, and the second task defines a reconfiguration model using multiobjective evolutionary algorithms. This proposal is proven in a real case study that characterizes a particular multi-HVAC system and its operational setpoints. The performance obtained from the experiments in diverse situations is impressive since there is a high level of conformity for the multi-HVAC system to reach the setpoint and deliver the operation to the steady-state smoothly, avoiding overshooting and other non-desirable transitional effects.European CommissionJunta de Comunidades de Castilla-La ManchaMinisterio de Ciencia e Innovació

Objectives: The objective of this study was to estimate the association between tocilizumab or corticosteroids and the risk of intubation or death in patients with coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) with a hyperinflammatory state according to clinical and laboratory parameters. Methods: A cohort study was performed in 60 Spanish hospitals including 778 patients with COVID-19 and clinical and laboratory data indicative of a hyperinflammatory state. Treatment was mainly with tocilizumab, an intermediate-high dose of corticosteroids (IHDC), a pulse dose of corticosteroids (PDC), combination therapy, or no treatment. Primary outcome was intubation or death; follow-up was 21 days. Propensity score-adjusted estimations using Cox regression (logistic regression if needed) were calculated. Propensity scores were used as confounders, matching variables and for the inverse probability of treatment weights (IPTWs). Results: In all, 88, 117, 78 and 151 patients treated with tocilizumab, IHDC, PDC, and combination therapy, respectively, were compared with 344 untreated patients. The primary endpoint occurred in 10 (11.4%), 27 (23.1%), 12 (15.4%), 40 (25.6%) and 69 (21.1%), respectively. The IPTW-based hazard ratios (odds ratio for combination therapy) for the primary endpoint were 0.32 (95%CI 0.22-0.47; p < 0.001) for tocilizumab, 0.82 (0.71-1.30; p 0.82) for IHDC, 0.61 (0.43-0.86; p 0.006) for PDC, and 1.17 (0.86-1.58; p 0.30) for combination therapy. Other applications of the propensity score provided similar results, but were not significant for PDC. Tocilizumab was also associated with lower hazard of death alone in IPTW analysis (0.07; 0.02-0.17; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Tocilizumab might be useful in COVID-19 patients with a hyperinflammatory state and should be prioritized for randomized trials in this situatio

An Intelligent Model to Analyze Aviation Incidents

    No full text
In this paper, we propose a hybrid intelligent model based on text mining and Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM), in order to determine the causes of aviation incidents. Our approach considers several dimensions of the problem, to define the possible causes of an aviation incident. It considers the human factors, one of the main causes of incidents, but also includes other aspects that normally are not considered in the analysis of Aviation incidents, such as the conditions of the flight or of the airplane. Particularly, we propose text mining tasks to extract the key information from the reports of the incidents, and a Multilevel FCM to integrate the different dimensions considered in our approach. We use a database about reports of aviation incidents to train and test our system. The preliminary results are very encouraging, because we can infer the reasons of the incidents

ATICA 2017: Tecnología. Accesibilidad. Educar en la sociedad red, 25/10/2017-27/10/2017, Medellín (Colombia)This paper presents a proposal for the intelligent territory platform based on ontologies. The platform can connect different types of agents which consist of sensors and devices acting as producers or consumers of information, and provide the real information for intelligent application. Ontology technologies can insure automatic information communication between agents and the systems. In our proposal, the intelligent platform can obtain data from these agents, and users can easily interact with the intelligent territory platform. The information of each agent is semantically represented as the standardized knowledge of the intelligent platform

Early fault detection and diagnosis in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)systems may reduce the damage of equipment, improving the reliability and safety of smart buildings, generating social and economic benefits. Data models for fault detection and diagnosis are increasinglyused for extracting knowledge in the supervisory tasks. This article proposes an autonomic cycle ofdata analysis tasks (ACODAT) for the supervision of the building'sHVAC systems. Data analysis tasksincorporate data mining models for extracting knowledge from the system monitoring, analyzingabnormal situations and automatically identifying and taking corrective actions. This article shows acase study of a real building's HVAC system, for the supervision with our ACODAT, where the HVACsubsystems have been installed over the years, providing a good example of a heterogeneous facility. The proposed supervisory functionality of the HVAC system is capable of detecting deviations, suchas faults or gradual increment of energy consumption in similar working conditions. The case studyshows this capability of the supervisory autonomic cycle, usually a key objective for smart buildings
